New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Security forces on Thursday conducted a flag march in different parts of North-East district to monitor the situation in the area in wake of violence in the national capital.
All the security personnel were equipped with riot gears and batons during the march.
This comes after newly appointed Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and Order) SN Shrivastava late on Wednesday took stock of the situation in violence-affected areas in North-East district.
Security has been deployed at various locations in the district with Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar among the violence-hit areas in the North-East district.
On Wednesday evening, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia had also visited the district.
Delhi violence death toll now 27
Two more people lost their lives due to violence over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in North East Delhi taking the total death toll to 27 on Thursday.
While 25 deaths were reported from Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, two casualties were reported from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital late on Wednesday night.
Dr Kishore Singh, Medical Superintendant, LNJP Hospital confirmed the two deaths.
On Wednesday, Sunil Kumar, Medical Superintendent of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital said three more people had died during medical treatment and the total number of deaths in the hospital was now at 25.
“We hope that the death toll does not increase further,” said Kumar.
