WTA rankings and ATP Ranking: Osaka and Djokovic retains top place Japan’s Naomi Osaka continued to top the women’s tennis rankings after Simona Halep lost in the Madrid Open.

Osaka has 6,356 points ahead of Romania’s Halep with 6,117 points, Xinhua news agency reports.

German player Angelique Kerber is in third place, while Dutch player Kiki Bertens climbed from seventh to a career-high fourth position after beating Halep on Saturday in the Madrid Open.

Following are the WTA top 10 rankings (previous ranking in parenthesis):

2. (3) Simona Halep, Romania, 6,117
3. (4) Angelique Kerber, Germany, 5,285
4. (7) Kiki Bertens, Netherlands, 5,115
5. (2) Petra Kvitova, Czech Republic, 5,050
6. (6) Elina Svitolina, Ukraine, 4,866
7. (5) Karolina Pliskova, Czech Republic, 4,786
8. (8) Sloane Stephens, United States, 4,656
9. (9) Ashleigh Barty, Australia, 4,425

Djokovic reinforces top place in ATP rankings

Novak Djokovic consolidated his lead in the latest men’s tennis rankings of the ATP after he won the Madrid Open on Sunday.

The Serb has 12,115 points ranking first, followed by Spain’s Rafael Nadal (7,945) and Roger Federer of Switzerland (5,770), reports Xinhua news agency.

Madrid Open semi-finalist Dominic Thiem of Austria rose to fourth place, and Madrid Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece went up from ninth to seventh.
