NITI Aayog and Flipkart Relaunch Women Entrepreneurship Platform to Boost Startups

In a move to strengthen women-led businesses, NITI Aayog and Flipkart have jointly launched a revamped version of the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), designed to enrich the community experience for women entrepreneurs across India.

The upgraded WEP aims to serve as a one-stop interactive hub, enabling women from different regions to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations. It will also provide access to mentorship opportunities through experts associated with FICCI-FLO’s Empowering the Greater 50% Mission, offering guidance on key aspects of entrepreneurship.

According to officials, the platform’s vision is to make the community more engaging and rewarding, encouraging discussion, knowledge-sharing, and peer learning among entrepreneurs.

The WEP is distinctive in its collaborative model, bringing together public and private organisations on a single platform to showcase schemes, initiatives, and programs targeted at women entrepreneurs. It also encourages the sharing of best practices between entrepreneurs and partner institutions, while supporting evidence-based policymaking.

In its redesigned version, the platform not only facilitates online interactions but also supports offline initiatives and outreach programmes to cultivate entrepreneurial spirit. Women are encouraged to share their own business journeys, challenges, and learnings to foster a culture of mutual learning.

Recognising that women entrepreneurs often face greater challenges than men — from limited networking opportunities to balancing professional and personal responsibilities — the platform’s community feature connects knowledge-seeking entrepreneurs with experienced business owners. This allows women to seek advice on a wide range of issues, including business registration, GST compliance, funding options, and recovery from pandemic-related setbacks.

By integrating mentorship, shared experiences, and practical guidance, the WEP seeks to create a supportive ecosystem where women can overcome barriers and fully participate in India’s entrepreneurial growth story.
